Soil Requirements
Everyone who grows flowers knows that the soil required for plant growth must be well-drained, have good air permeability, be loose and fertile, and be rich in humus.
Watering requirements
Coleus has strict water requirements. During the growth period, it is necessary to maintain the humidity of the pot soil and environment, avoid drought, and prevent accumulation of waterlogging. Its greatest ornamental value lies in its colorful leaves. Once watered too much, the leaves will easily become dehydrated and lose color, and the roots will also be susceptible to infection and rot.
Sunlight requirements
Light has a great influence on the color of Coleus leaves. When there is sufficient sunlight, the leaf color will be much brighter, but avoid exposure to the scorching sun in midsummer. Excessive sunlight will cause the leaves to become rough and lose their gloss. Of course, the color of Coleus leaves is not bright when it has been in a shaded environment for a long time.
Temperature requirements
Coleus likes a warm and humid environment and requires relatively fresh air. In winter, control the room temperature at 20~25℃, and the lowest overwintering temperature cannot be lower than 10℃. If the temperature is too low, the leaves will turn yellow and fall off, and the plants will gradually die if the temperature is below 5℃. During maintenance in other seasons, try to keep the temperature within a certain range and avoid sudden changes.
Fertilization requirements
Colorgrass does not have high requirements for fertilizers. When planting, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied. During the growth period, apply thin fertilizer based on nitrogen fertilizer 1 to 2 times a month.
Pest Control
Coleus is prone to damping-off disease during the seedling stage, so attention should be paid to disinfecting the soil during planting. There is a risk of leaf spot disease during the growing period, and can be sprayed with 50% thiophanate solution for sterilization. When cultivating coleus indoors, scale insects, red spiders and whiteflies are prone to damage. You can choose to spray omethoate 1000 times solution.
