Precautions

To cultivate Teyulian, sandy soil with good drainage and good air permeability should be used to ensure sufficient light and avoid insufficient light. The temperature should not be 5℃, as the leaves will die if it is below 0℃. Do not water too frequently, just water once every 10 days. Apply a thin fertilizer mainly composed of phosphorus fertilizer once a month, and the amount of fertilizer should not be too large. Propagation can be carried out by sowing seeds, leaf cuttings, divisions, and beheadings. Once pests and diseases are discovered, timely prevention and treatment is required.

Cultivation methods

Soil

Teyulian should be cultivated in sandy soil with good drainage and air permeability to facilitate the elimination of excess water and the growth of plant roots; Prepare 1/3 each of leaf soil, sand soil and garden soil. You can also add appropriate amounts of river sand and cinders.

Temperature

Teyulian stops growing or suffers mild frostbite when it is below 5℃, and the water in the leaves freezes and causes necrosis at 0℃ and below. In winter and summer, when the temperature is too high (above 35 degrees Celsius) or too low (less than 5 degrees Celsius), the plants stop growing. At this time, watering should be temporarily reduced or stopped, and the watering frequency should be resumed when the temperature is suitable.

Light

The more sufficient light and the greater the temperature difference between day and night, the brighter the leaves of Teyulian will be. When the temperature permits, it is best to maintain it outdoors to ensure sufficient light.

When the light is insufficient or the soil moisture is excessive, the plant will grow leggy, and the whole plant will be light green or dark green. The leaves will be sparsely spaced and elongated, accelerating upward growth, seriously affecting the ornamental quality, and may even cause the plant to die due to blocked photosynthesis. .

Water and Fertilizer

The Teyulian plant itself contains very high moisture, and heavy watering can easily lead to rot. Recommended watering interval: water once every 10 days or so, water thoroughly when dry. Can be adjusted appropriately according to climate conditions.

Teyulian should not be fertilized too much, especially nitrogen fertilizer. It is appropriate to apply a thin fertilizer based on phosphorus and potassium once a month.

Propagation methods

Teyulian can be propagated by sowing, leaf cutting, division, and beheading, and has a strong reproductive ability.

Notes

Common pests: Scale insects. It can be killed with chemicals such as carbendazim.

Common diseases: black rot. Once the disease occurs, cut off the affected area, dry the wound and then spray chlorothalonil.
