Pollination of tuberose

Tuberose likes a warm, humid and sunny environment, and is suitable for growing in fertile, clayey soil. It avoids stagnant water and drought. There is no dormant period in tropical areas and can bloom all year round. In other areas, the leaves fall and become dormant in winter. It is self-pollinated. Since the pistil matures later than the stamens, the natural seed setting rate is very low and artificial pollination is required.

Growing environment

Tuberose prefers a warm, humid and sunny environment; it requires fertile, clayey soil, and sandy soil is not suitable for growth; it avoids stagnant water and drought.

Four Seasons Maintenance

Tuberose is native to South America. It is an evergreen herb in its place of origin. It grows all year round when the temperature is suitable. It blooms all year round, but is most blooming in summer. However, when it is cultivated in the open field in my country, most areas have severe cold winters, so it can only be cultivated with bulbs planted in spring. Buds grow in spring, bloom in summer and autumn, and go dormant in winter (forced dormancy).

Pollination of tuberose

< /p>

Tuberose is self-pollinated. Since the pistils mature later than the stamens, the natural seed setting rate is very low.

The suitable growth temperature for tuberose is 20℃-30℃. Flower bud differentiation occurs during the growth period of late spring and early summer, requiring a minimum temperature of about 20°C. Flowering or not is also related to the nutritional status of the sphere. Generally, those with a sphere mass greater than 11 grams can bloom that year; otherwise, they will not bloom that year.

The soil quality is not strict, clay loam is suitable; it is sensitive to soil moisture and prefers fertile, moist but water-free soil. During drought, the leaf edges curl up and the flower buds shrink, making it difficult to open.
