In the southern region, gardenia cuttings can be carried out from March to October. The northern region is relatively cold, so it should be carried out in May-June when it is warmer. The temperature during cutting should not be too high or too low. When cutting, use annual branches, keep the top 2-3 leaves, disinfect and dry them, and finally insert them into the substrate or water.

The time for gardenia cuttings varies depending on the region. The southern region is relatively warm, so it is recommended to do it from March to October. Compared with the south, the north is relatively cold, so it is best to do it around May-June. Generally speaking, it is okay to choose a time after the temperature rises in spring, such as early summer.

2. Cutting Method

1. Branch selection: Select good lignified branches in a growing state, annual ones are best, as such branches are easier to take root. If it is a new or too old branch, it will be difficult to survive during cutting.

2. Disinfection: from the mother plant After cutting, you need to put it in a cool and ventilated place to dry the incision, or use carbendazim to disinfect it. If you cut it directly without treatment, it will easily turn black and rot.

3. Treatment: Just keep 2-3 top leaves on the branches, and cut off the rest. Prepare a sterilized and clean substrate. If you are growing hydroponics, prepare a clean container and clean water.

4. Cuttings: Insert the processed branches into soil or water. If soil culture is used, it must be maintained in a slightly humid state. If water culture is used, the water must be changed frequently to prevent the branches from rotting.
