Garlic watering generally goes through four periods. After sowing in autumn, water enough and cover with mulch to maintain a high humidity. Watering more often after spring warms up can promote the growth of garlic and garlic moss. Increase watering after the garlic sprouts emerge to prevent them from consuming the garlic's water. In addition, watering should be sufficient in the next two months to help the garlic expand. Reduce watering in late June to promote maturation and increase storability.

After the weather warms up in spring, usually in early April, seedlings need to be watered once. This is the early stage of seedling development. The soil must be kept moist for a long time in order for it to grow stronger. Insufficient water at this time will not only affect the yield, but also easily cause the seedlings to dry out.

3. Moss-producing water

Generally, garlic moss begins to grow in mid-to-late April, and it usually takes about 30 days from growth to harvest. More watering is needed at this time to promote the growth of garlic moss. Insufficient water will cause it to consume water and nutrients from the bulbs, which is detrimental to the garlic harvest.

4. Expanding water

In May to June is the expansion period of garlic bulbs. The water demand in the early stage is still very large. Sufficient water can make it grow fuller and stronger. However, watering should be reduced in the later period, firstly to promote its maturity, and secondly to make the garlic more durable for storage.
