Tiehaitang is usually cut from May to June, when it takes root easily and has a high survival rate. Choose a plant that grows vigorously and cut a branch 10-15 cm long. Dry the white pulp on the branch wounds and apply plant ash to disinfect them. Use river sand or peat soil as the substrate, poke a hole in the surface of the pot soil, and insert the cuttings into it. Water thoroughly and place in a cool place. Roots will take root in 50-60 days.
1. Cutting time
1. Cutting time
Tiehaitang can be cut during the growth period, but the survival rate is higher in May-June. The temperature in winter is low, so cuttings are not suitable for survival. High temperatures in summer can cause bottom rot and the survival rate is very low. Generally, cuttings can be taken when the temperature is between 15-30℃.
2. Cutting processing
Selection Tiehaitang plants that grow relatively strong and are free from diseases and insect pests. Cut a 10-15 cm branch with 3-4 leaf nodes on it. Dry the white pulp that flows out of the incision, and then apply plant ash. Put it in a cool place to dry for 2-3 days. After the wound is dry, it can be used for cuttings.
3. Pot soil preparation
Tiehaitang does not have high requirements for the substrate. Just use river sand or peat soil, and you can replace it with new soil after it takes root. You can also use nutrient soil directly, which is more conducive to rooting and germination. It should be noted that the substrate should not be sand or sea sand from saline-alkali areas. Salt and alkali are not conducive to its growth.
4. Cutting and maintenance
Preparation After the potting soil is good, you can make cuttings. Poke a hole on the surface of the potting soil to a depth of about 5 cm. Insert the bottom end of the cutting into the hole, water it thoroughly and place it in a cool place. After that, pay attention to water control and wait until the pot soil is slightly dry before watering. It will take about 50-60 days to take root.
